This is one of my favourite places — I was going to say, “in the whole world”, but since I haven’t actually seen the whole world, I will say “in New Zealand” and/or “that I have visited.”
It’s in the Lewis Pass national reserve, which in its entirety is the “favourite place”, and this particular shot was taken near the Maruia River.

Thornspell is my first novel and is published by Knopf (Random House Children's Books, USA). It won the Sir Julius Vogel Award 2009 for Best Novel: Young Adult and was a Storylines Childrens' Literature Trust Notable Book 2009.
Googled it, looked at photos. I can see the appeal. 🙂
I really love the Lewis Pass area — but this pic was only the beginning of a fabulous holiday, from which I can promise more photos to come.
