Well, I Pressed “Send”
Yes, that’s right, you did read the title correctly. As of yesterday, I pressed “send” on The Wall of Night #4 manuscript, working title The Chaos Gate. So it is now with the series’ publisher, Harper Voyager.

Yes, I did type “the end.” π
On Monday, I’ll run through the stages from this point, so you know what’s involved in getting to a publication date, which I imagine will be in all your minds.
For the moment, though, I am pressing pause to celebrate, because it’s been a very long road to this day, both for me and thee. π

Hats in the air, Hogwarts style.
And you’ve all been amazingly supportive and patient, which I have really appreciated, so thank you for that. Gassho.
It may be worth checking in again on Monday, so you do know what to expect from this point — but for now, I’d just like to celebrate this milestone with you, because it really does feel “huge.”

Hmm, how many times have I said, “Not this day”, in the best LoTR fashion? Well today (or yesterday, really) it is finally, “this day.”

Aragorn as King Elessar

Congratulations Helen! I’m so pleased for you and for all of us readers! Please celebrate this achievement for we are all celebrating with you in our hearts! Can’t wait to read it when it’s published!
Thank you so much, Nick. It feels great to have checked off so significant a milestone in the “getting to readers” journye. π
Yay! I’m so excited for you (and excited for me to be closer to getting to see the book)!
Thank you, Jacob.:) There *may* have been a degree of excitement here, too — at least a ‘smidgen’ or even a ‘skerrick.’ π
Wow!
This is great. I cannot wait to read it. You must feel really happy to have finished such a big project
“Yes,indeed” on all counts, Andie. Thanks so much for hanging there. π
Congratulations. You deserve that celebration. What a way to start 2026
Thanks, Gail — I didn’t quite make it in time for the January 1 fireworks displays but close enough to call it for a cracker of a start. π
Wonderful news.
I’m happy for you.
And happy for me. I’ve been lurking and waiting for this.
Thank you for continuing to lurk.;-) Am glad to be able to infuse the new year’s beginning with a little happiness. π
CONGRATULATIONS! and woo-hoo … new book in about a year!
Thank you, Kristen — my fingers are definitely crossed for your “about a year”!
Well done, I am so looking forward to it. I have been hoping #4 would be published before I die (that’s not being morbid, but I am 82). So far my favourite in the series is “The Gathering of the Lost” so I am waiting to see what “The Chaos Gate” which will tie up all the loose ends for both Malian & Kalan, not to mention some of the other characters, will bring! In the meantime you should be immensely proud of your creation.
best wishes, Sue
Hi Sue, You may like to check out my Jan 12 post on the process from here, but the gist is that I am hoping for 2027, but it may be longer.
I do “hear” you re wanting to reading WALL #4 before you die. One of the great griefs of my life is that a very close and dear friend, who was a great fan of the WALL series and longing to experience the end of the story, passed away before I could complete it. And if I could have completed it for her, then I would have, but our stars and the muses were both in opposition, and it proved beyond my powers.
So I do hope that all those still waiting, like you, Sue, will get to read it now.
