A List Of “…On Anything, Really” Guest Posts Featuring Fellow New Zealand SFF Writers
Last week I posted on having made the shortlist for the 2014 Sir Julius Vogel Award for “Services to Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror.” I also posted the citation, which includes mention of my “… blog and … space in SF Signal and [my] presence at events to inform the world” of New Zealand SFF.
For those who might be interested to find out more in one easy post ;-), yesterday I collated my interviews with other NZ speculative fiction writers. Today I’m focusing on NZ SFF guests (posts) I’ve hosted here on the “…on Anything, Really” blog. Again, these are listed chronologically from the oldest post to the most recent in each category:
The Heir Of Night Guest Author Series:
Mary Victoria
Tim Jones — Tim’s guest post was subsequently refeatured on io9
Juliet Marillier
James Norcliffe
Authors With Book Releases:
Ripley Patton: Ghost Hand & “Why This Story”
Ripley Patton: “Becoming Olivia Black — Character In Ghost Hand”
Aimee Salter: Breakable & “Why This Story”
Freya Robertson: “What Lies At The Heart Of Heartwood”
Note: Ripley & Aimee have both since returned to the US, but at the time were active members of SpecFicNZ.
Here’s SpecFicNZ:
SpecFicNZ is the relatively new association of speculative authors who are either New Zealanders or resident in NZ. The “Here’sSpecFicNZ” series began as an opportunity for fellow Christchurch SpecFicNZ-ers to introduce themselves to my blog readers through a series focusing around the following headings:
“Here’s Who: a short, first person introduction to the member
Here’s Why: the member writes or works in speculative fiction
Here’s What: an example of the member’s work
Here’s Where: links where readers could find out more about the writer and their work”
Later in the year, another series focusing on Wellington featured. (And I do hope there may be more.) In both cases, SF Signal linked to several of the posts, opening them up to a wider, international audience.
Christchurch:
Elizabeth Gatens
Kevin Berry
AJ Fitzwater
Cat Langford
Beaulah Pragg
Gareth Renowden
Tim Stead
Wellington:
Elizabeth Heritage
Sally McLennan
Eileen Mueller
Richard Parry
Dan Rabarts
Jonathan James Todd
Darusha Wehm
.
And I think that’s pretty much it for the guest spots from fellow New Zealand speculative fiction writers, to date — although I hope there will be many more to come! 😉
Next Up:
On Saturday I’ll look at “…on Anything, Really” posts based specifically around NZ speculative fiction, at least one of which was linked to internationally and several of which have been “most-read” posts in their year.
For Monday, I think a look at the “What I’m Reading” posts could be the go…
