About The Characters: Meet The Minor Players in “The Wall Of Night” Series — Meet Laer
The About The Characters post series focuses on the minor characters in The Wall Of Night series, in large part because:
“I think it’s the presence of the smaller characters that “makes” a story, creating texture around the main points of view.”
~ from my Legend Award Finalist's Interview, 2013
Initially, the series focused exclusively on characters from The Heir of Night, but now I’m continuing on with minor characters from both The Gathering Of The Lost and Daughter of Blood — in alphabetical order, of course!
Recently we’ve been traversing the letter “L” and The Gathering of the Lost — but although still in “L”, today the focus is back on Daughter Of Blood.

Laer: A Sea House weatherworker on the ship, Che’Ryl-g-Raham
Sea House marines, Kalan supposed—but it was the figure to the first woman’s left who held his attention. The man was tall, with the same twisted cables of hair as his companion, although his were mostly gray, framing a deeply weathered face. The breeze rippled the folds of his sea-green robe, the deep border a wave design in indigo and black. Power stirred, too, telling Kalan that he was in the presence of a Sea House weatherworker.

Sorry if this has been asked,
Do you have a release date for book 4?
Alot of the websites including waterstones, amazon etc have it being released today but ive seen neither hide nor hair of it?
Thanks
Hi Chris,
I am so sorry that there must have been a glitch somewhere in the publishing/booksellers’ system, although I cannot explain how it occurred. I can only apologise for your disappointment and that of any other readers similarly affected. As a keen reader myself, I really understand hanging out for the next book, especially when it’s the finale of a series.
I won’t have a publication date for the book until I have completed the manuscript, at which time the series’ publisher in the US will set a date. So the onus is definitely on me to complete the manuscript so the other steps can follow. I am currently beginning work on the endgame for both WALL #4 and the series, and hoping to reach “the end” by the middle of next year.
Again, I’m sorry for your disappointment, Chris, and for the time this book is taking to complete. I sincerely hope the final product will prove worthy of your and other readers’ long wait, and am doing my utmost to ensure that’s the case.
Regards, HelenL
Thanks for the reply.
and stay safe
You’re welcome, re the reply.:) And stay well, and safe, yourself, particularly at the moment.
At present, I’m trying to post progress updates every 3-6 months, which can be looked for under “About What I’m Doing” in the categories, and/or “About My Books” — and will definitely trumpet “the end” here.
