The Quest For The Holy Grail Continues…
… the Holy Grail of the perfect orange cake recipe, that is. 😉
I commenced my quest for Orange Cake optimus maximus* on 24 October.
Yesterday, I tried my hand with the second recipe off the blocks.
The recipe is known as “James Stapley’s Orange and Almond Cake” — attributed to the (then, anyway) Executive Chef of Wanaka’s Whare Kea Lodge (do check out the link to their site btw, if you love pics of stunning scenery!), via Ruth Pretty’s column in The Press, in 2013.
Again, this cake was pretty darned delicious — although the tasting panel was uncertain whether they could say it was better, or greater, than our first contender on October 24 …
(I shall keep my rankings to myself until the recipes have all been trialed and the Grail Quest is officially complete.)
Enjoy the pics of James Stapley’s Orange and Almond Cake — just to tantalise your tastebuds, yanno…

* optimus maximus: best and greatest
This is very like my mother’s cake. If you want to test both, of course, I can still find that recipe for you.
That would be great. I have four recipes to try, all slightly different, so 5 would make the test process more rigorous. 🙂
