What’s Coming Up
The Tuesday Poem:
First up, I’m the guest editor on The Tuesday Poem Hub this week and am delighted to be featuring a poem by fellow Christchurch poet, David Gregory.
David is a man who has a mighty fine way with words, so I hope you’ll stop by the Hub on Tuesday to check out his poem—I’m pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.

Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month in Australia, the US, and the UK, corresponding with March 8—a month today!—as International Women’s Day and I am delighted and honored to have been asked by my friend and fellow writer, Gillian Polack, to participate in a post-fest on her blog on the theme of “Staying the Course.” I’ll post more on this closer to the time.
This is in keeping with the US National Women’s History Project Theme: “Weaving the Stories of Women’s Lives.”
I’m kind of curious as to why it’s not celebrated in New Zealand, especially as the first country in the world to have given women the vote…something to look into for next year, perhaps.
I’m delighted to have you visiting next month!
The only reason it’s celebrated in Australia is because a small group of women (not all Australian) got together and made it so. Since I know how we did it, if there is a small group of NZ women who would like to do the same, I’d be happy to advise! I have to say, though, it’s a lot of work.
I am thinking of doing something here on my own blog for next year, but my ability to organise a blog carnival/fest beyond that will probably depend on other committments, like WALL4 and house repairs… :-/
