Hmm, I pondered, what shall I post for my 1 February slot on Supernatural Underground…
… And if you’re thinking the answer must have been obvious, you’re quite right — I have welcomed in Daughter of Blood. 😉
The welcome includes a round up of “official” reviews to date, plus an intro-excerpt from Chapter 1, Lady Mouse.
If you haven’t caught up with any of that already here, head on over and check it out!
Enter, Daughter Of Blood

A February 1 Bonus
February 1 was my father’s birthday, so here are a few “father” quotes, from DAUGHTER, by way of a bonus, for you — but also in his memory.
From the Prologue:
“Oh, my heart, Ilkerineth thought: striking at me over Amaliannarath’s long-ago fate will not bring our son back.
Our son. Even the words were a fist of pain, closing around his heart. For an instant he was half form, half wildfire, as his banked-down power strained to break free—not just clear of this sad place, caught in its pocket outside time, but tearing through the barrier Wall and into Haarth. With Nindorith at his side and Lightning at his back he might even be able to do it, since the Derai had neglected the foundations of their Wall for so long … But a split second later Ilkerineth had caught himself, the wildfire dying as he forced grief and rage back down.
I have lived too long, he thought. They lay my son’s dead body at my feet and still I will not obliterate another world, even if I could.”

From Chapter 1: Lady Mouse
“Myr’s head throbbed as Kharalthor surged to his feet, knocking his chair to the floor. “How dare you insult our father!” Two more chairs grated back as Anvin and Parannis leapt up, too, the latter laughing—until Earl Sardon spoke above the uproar, flat as iron.
“Sit down, all of you.” He waited until they were seated before leaning forward, his stare boring into Parannis. “Be warned: I will not tolerate your barbs—or those your sister has sharpened for you—on this matter. As for the rest, I am out of patience with your interminable arguments.” “

A poem will post later today.
