Coming Very Soon: ‘The Heir of Night’–UK Mass Market Edition, Plus New Cover Feature!
It’s official—the UK mass market release of The Heir of Night (Orbit) will be 19 January, a little closer than even I had realised.
I am very excited about it though, not least because the mass market edition is coming out with a new cover. Those of you who checked out the Orbit blog post on the Ursula Bethell residency, here, will have gotten a sneak preview—but today’s feature is the official launch here on the blog. Right here. Now. At once. Today! ๐
And I have to say that I do really like this cover: I always liked the authentic ‘historical’ feel given by Malian’s armour (with the red cover), but now the arch really adds to that—as well as to the ‘bastion’ sense of the Shield-Wall of Night, while the fire and storm in the background speak straight to the darkness and danger of the story.
And although you can’t see it here, the back cover will feature a new quote—from aย review that I hadn’t caught up on before, from TheBookBag.co.uk:
“Dark and magical … The Heir of Night is a grand entrance”
Now I can’t wait to hold the book in my hand—because when all’s said and done, that’s the thing that gives a tangible sense of accomplishment. (And I have, after all, read the story before! ๐ )
Now THAT is something. ๐
Well, I do think so, ma’am, but am aware of a slight bias on the subject … ๐
Oh, stunning! Your covers just keep getting better!
Thanks, Wen–I really do think Orbit have done a great job with this one.
Wow!
Wen is right, your covers do keep getting better!
So now I’m really looking forward to thet GATHERING UK cover, too!
Fantastic. I bought this book for my son, read it, and neglected to pass iit on.
I will remedy the situation ๐
The cover looks great and they have kept the outline of the figure the same from what I can see on my copy.
Thank you, Mark–I am very glad you enjoyed it. And you’re right, the figure of Malian is the same as on the spine of the red cover edition, and also the front cover, except now the dear girl has all her head. ๐ By the way, I think the German publisher, Blanvalet, has used an image from the same series, which I also really like.
