A Weekend Creative Writing Workshop from The Hagley Writers’ Institute
A little late notice I know, and I apologise for that, but Frankie McMillan and Kerrin Sharpe, tutors with the Hagley Writers’ Institute are offering a writing workshop this weekend—and here are the details:
What You’ll Learn: How to advance your writing, Poetry and Prose Fiction
Where: Hagley Writers’ Institute, Hagley Community College
When: This weekend, Saturday June 30, 10am-3pm; Sunday July 1, 10am-3pm
Tutors: Frankie McMillan; Kerrin Sharpe
Fee: $100 waged; $90 unwaged
Bring: Paper, pen, a writing sample (1 page only) and lunch; morning & afternoon tea provided

About the Tutors:
Frankie McMillan is an award-winning fiction writer and poet. Her publications include ‘The Bag Lady’s Picnic and other stories’ (Shoal Bay) and a poetry collection, ‘Dressing for the Cannibals’ (Sudden Valley). Recent short stories have been selected for Best New Zealand Fiction, Vintage, 2008 and 2009. She has an MA in Creative Writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters, Victoria University of Wellington, and a Certificate in Adult Teaching. In 2005 she was the recipient of the CNZ Todd Bursary. She is currently writing a second collection of short stories. Frankie is an enthusiastic tutor with over ten years of teaching experience.

Kerrin P. Sharpe completed Bill Manhire’s Original Composition class at Victoria University of Wellington in 1976. Over the last two years she has been published widely, including in Best New Zealand Poems 2008, 2009, and 2010; Turbine 2007, 2009 and 2010, Snorkel, Bravado, Takahe, the NZ Listener, Poetry NZ, Junctures, Sport and The Press. In 2008, she was awarded the New Zealand Post Creative Writing Teacher’s Award by the International Institute of Modern Letters. She was the featured Poet in Takahe 69.
