Reprised for Monday: A Friday Giveaway—A Trio of YA Fantasy Reads
As explained on Friday, thanks to my nefarious bookish connections I have three YA novels to give away. 🙂
The three novels are (in alphabetical order by author):
Rae Carson’s Fire and Thorns (Gollancz)
Just in case you haven’t heard of it, here’s a the intro snippet from the back cover:
“Princess Elisa is a disappointment to her people. Although she bears the Godstone in her navel, a sign that she has been chosen for an act of heroism, they view her as lazy, useless and fat…”
It was also longlisted for the Gemmell Morningstar Award this year.
—
Kristin Cashore’s Bitterblue (Gollancz)
*Note: this is a proof copy
And the intro snippet is: “Eight years have passed since the young princess Bitterblue and her country were saved from the vicious King Leck. Now Bitterblue is the Queen of Monsea and her land is at peace…”
Do you reckon it will stay peaceful though? (I reckon you could be right…)
You’ll also recall that I did a very enjoyable interview with Kristin Cashore earlier this year, which you can read here.
—
Tamora Pierce’s Beka Cooper: Mastiff (Scholastic)
Yes, another of Tamora Pierce’s novels in the wonderful Tortall world!
And the snippet is: “Beka Cooper’s life takes an unexpected turn when her fiance is killed on a raid … and in the span of hours she is plunged ito a case that threatens the future of the Tortallan royal family and the Tortallan government itself…”
High stakes stuff indeed, but I am sure that Beka, like all of Tamora Pierce’s heroines, will be more than up for it.

To enter the giveaway:
Just comment on this post and/or any other post on the blog before this coming Friday, 2 November, when I will post the outcome. Basically, your name will be entered in the draw every time you comment on each “distinct” post—plus I’ll add in a bonus entry if I see retweets.
(If you really want to comment on a particular post but don’t want to be in the draw, just put “n.i.d.”—”not in draw”—at the end of your comment.)
That’s it, easy peasy—& I hope will help keep the reading wheel turning!
—
1 November Note: I will post the result of the draw at the top of the blog masthead on Friday evening, NZ time, so look for it there, not here. Looking forward to the draw on Friday and thanks for all your comments.
Nefarious connections – hope you have a long, swirling, black cloak to wear when dealing with them.
A mustache to twirl sinisterly is optional.
Jan, I shall invest in a long swirling black cloak “interfrasticallY” (to quote, I believe, Pooh.)
Well I am just excited to be a fan and able to be able to benefit from all of this nefariousness LOL These look like real treats to read and I thank you for the opportunity to win a copy.

You’re welcome, Denise–am glad there are folk out there to be readers/fans as well:)
They look like excellent books.
I admit to having read Fire and Thorns, but I only have it in ebook and would love to have a paper copy.
The other two are both by authors I’m interested in reading.
Huh, and I’ve just realised it’s already Friday and I’ve probably missed out. That’s okay. It’s been one of those weeks and I’m trying to catch up on blogs and have no clear idea of what day of the week it is. So just enjoy my lack of awareness.
