After the Party …
… and what a party it was, with well over 400 of you coming through the door to check out why the joint was jumpin’!
And Heir made it to No. 29,000 on Amazon today. I know that it’s definitely “early days” because there’s always that first rush and then ‘wait and see’, but still … Woot for the early rush! There’s two 5-star reader reviews up already: thank you Rebecca Fisher from FantasyLit.com (although I think that may technically be 4.5 on the FantasyLit site) and Sharon Stogner!
Spent the rest of the day working on the flood of launch stuff still rolling in—there’s two more blog interviews to complete, with a Q&A coming up. Time, as well, to start implementing my (nefarious!) plans for the AU/NZ release day on Thursday October 7. Stand by for more next week.
Meanwhile, tomorrow 1 October (US Eastern Standard Time) I’ll be doing my regular first-of-the-month post on the Supernatural Underground—and because The Heir of Night is “just out” in the USA I did hear a whisper from Kate Nintzel, my editor at Eos, that there might be some kind of giveaway … Just a whisper mind you, but worth dropping by to check it out. 😉
So much to do so little time—but a very important time to be doing all of it! And meanwhile, I still have this bowl of sweets from Claire Beynon to keep the party spirit going a little longer!
Hi Helen,
I missed the party! sorry! But huge congratulations on the Heir of Night. I don’t know much about Fantasy but I’m looking forward to reading this book because I thought Thornspell was a great yarn, well told. I will have a Licorice Allsort from your bowl, in celebration! Love to you and Andrew.
Thanks for dropping by anyway, Chris–& party-without-end are what the sweets are for! 🙂 Besides, there’s always next week and the red cover!
lol. Amazon wouldn’t let me post my comments until the day the book released . Licorice? you need Whoopie Pies .
Hey Helen – I posted your book on my blog yesterday to wave in a partying fashion from Wellington! … but didn’t comment here. Well done with the book… very proud of you, as a NZ writer and a Tuesday Poet.
Mary—thank you so much. I had my feet up a little ‘after the party’ yesterday, but will go now and check your blog and comment. 🙂
Congratulations Helen and sorry I missed your party! I feel like one of those stragglers who turns up really really late but looking at everything you’ve got coming up this party doesn’t feel like it’s unwinding just yet! It’s a very exciting week and look forward to seeing the red cover in the shops on the 7th.
Rebecca–I am just glad you’ve dropped by! Latecomers, too, are welcome here. 🙂
Sorry I missed the party too Helen but- Congratulations !!!!- All that hard work and hanging in there rewarded at last. I loved the world of “Thornspell” – it captivated me . Now I look forward to reading your trilogy. May it go well in reviews and sales!
Lesley
Glad you could make it now, Lesley, and thanks for your support,
